Any good website needs a good 404 error page. No matter what caused the error, you should be presenting the user with information about what happened, redirect them back to your home page (or another appropriate page). Under no circumstances should you rely on the your web server’s built in, boring 404 error page. It’s ugly and ineffective, and REALLY boring.
Have some fun with your 404 error page, make it entertaining to your users instead of just informative.
We’ve put together 20 really great 404 error pages from across the internet for your inspiration.
