Our first article regarding Fileship.io mentioned a few issues and we were contacted by the company almost instantly to learn more about what our issues were. It took a day to work everything out and I can say that everything seems to work flawlessly now. Talk about awesome customer service!
Step 1
There are no accounts to set-up, nothing to join, just fill out four form fields and hit Transfer. Seriously, that’s all there is to using Fileship.io. You can even chose between Euros, Pounds and US Dollars when you set your price. The only real requirement is that you have a PayPal account. Fileship.io takes a 4% cut of whatever price you set, which is totally reasonable – if you were doing this yourself you have to pay credit card processing fees and other charges, depending on your payment set-up. Plus the convenience and security of ensuring your file is protected until payment is beyond priceless.
STEP 2
Once you click the Transfer button your file is uploaded and you receive confirmation that everything is good.
STEP 4
A few minutes later you will receive an email with a link that you can send to your client. All your client needs to do is click on the link and they are able to make a payment and receive your file automatically.
STEP 5
After clicking on the link, your client sees a screen with your locked file and a PayPay payment link. Clicking on the PayPal button opens the standard PayPal payment screen.
And that’s pretty much it – the service seems to work flawlessly.
It’s not for every situation and certainly not for every client, but I guarantee you know, or have worked with clients where something like this would have come in very handy. I’m thinking of one former client in particular right now and having this would have saved me over $1,000 in unpaid work – thanks for that one Rick!
Thanks to the great people at fileship.io too – they were totally on top of the issue I had originally and solved the problem within a day!
