A good pricing table is a really important part of any website that offers a range of product or service options. There are so many different available for WordPress that finding one that works for you can be a monumental challenge.
For my company’s new website I wasn’t a huge fan of the theme’s built-in pricing table, and because I’m slightly anal-retentive about good design, I spent days trying out every last plugin I could find. Each one I found either didn’t work with the design of my theme, was difficult to use or just really, really ugly. When I found WP Darko’s Responsive Pricing Table I gave up searching and haven’t looked back. It’s now my go-to pricing table plugin and all screenshots used in this review are from my own website.
I now offer the Responsive Pricing Table plugin to all of my website clients, regardless of what WordPress theme they choose or what website package they sign-up for. It’s super easy to use, looks amazing and is bargain priced. Everyone who uses WordPress should use this plugin, seriously!
Design Options
There are 5 great skins available for WP Darko’s Responsive Pricing Table.
You also have full control over the colour of each column, can mark any plan ‘recommend’, control how links work and can set the size of all fonts used in the pricing table. It’s super simple to make the pricing table do pretty much whatever you want.
Ease of use
Setting up a pricing table is as simple as filling in form fields for each entry. Even better, the features section is one big text field so it is super easy to copy and paste a large number of features between your plans, making setting things up a breeze. There are short codes to grey out a feature or to add a hover box with extra information. It couldn’t’ be any easier to create a killer pricing table in just a matter of minutes.
cons that aren’t really cons
As with any good review I had to think of at least a couple of cons to balance out the pros. It wasn’t easy but I managed to list two things I didn’t totally love about WP Darko’s Responsive Pricing Table. In each case there’s a super easy way to make the plugin do exactly what I wanted so each con comes with an asterisk. Check them out below.
Bonus Tip #1 – Font Awesome + WP Darko = Pure Sexy*
Responsive Pricing Table comes with a handy feature that allows you to grey out a line item simply by adding a “-n” at the start. This is awesome for highlighting the differences between plans. But I also really like colour so I used the free Font Awesome WP plugin to add in a few icons. The greyed out line item is great, but the red X beside it really sets it off and it obvious to potential customers that they don’t get that feature. Responsive Pricing Table doesn’t have a built in method to add icons to line items, but I think this way is better and more flexible than anything that could be built in anyway.
BONUS TIP #2 – Duplicating Pricing Tables is easy
Responsive Pricing Table doesn’t include a way to duplicate pricing tables so you can make a similar version for a different page of your website, but with the free Post Duplicator you can easily duplicate an existing pricing table, instead of manually copying the settings to a new pricing table.
