There are a ton of trendy, even kitschy products related to the Apple Watch. Some are great, some are ridiculous. Every once in a while a product comes along that is just mind-blowingly perfect.
The Elago W3 Apple Watch stand is one of those products – it’s cheap, offers great functionality and has a massive abundance of both geeky coolness and over-the-top nostalgia. For only $10 you get a silicone Apple Watch stand that both charges your watch and makes it look like an authentic classic Macintosh (complete with floppy drive cutout). Miniature keyboard and mouse are not included.
It also supports the Apple Watch’s nightstand mode so you can use your watch as an alarm clock on your bedside table. Just insert your own Apple Watch charging puck into the stand and you’re ready to go.
The Elago W3 stand is made from silicone to make it easy to insert your Apple Watch, and to ensure that it doesn’t get scratched when you do so.
It works with all Apple Watch series (1, 2, 3 and 4), fits all 4 Apple Watch sizes (38 mm, 42 mm, 40 mm and 44 mm) and is compatible with Apple Watch Nightstand Mode (WatchOS 2 or later).
The Elago W3 stand comes in classic Macintosh beige and black. Elago also sells the adorable W4 Apple Watch stand that mimics the first iMac, available in Aqua Blue and Aqua Pink.
A fun bit of trivia – the difference in specs between the Apple Watch 4 and the original Macintosh are truly astonishing. The Apple Watch sports a 448 x 368 pixel 40 mm OLED screen (326 ppi) and the Macintosh 128K came with a 512 × 342 pixel 9″ CRT monitor (72 ppi). The Apple Watch contains over 6,000 times the memory of the original Macintosh and nearly 420,000 times the internal storage. It’s unknown how fast the Apple Watch’s S4 processor is, but you can guarantee that it’s exponentially faster than the Macintosh 128K’s 8 MHz Motorola 68000.
The Elago W3 is the absolute perfect Christmas gift for any old-time Apple fan who owns an Apple Watch.
